Spit “Options” Out of Your Mouth
Learn to dwell on the good things and develop a healthy distaste for “options”.

Options - Blog - 8/18/2017
One of the most destructive forces in a human’s life is when a person believes they have options. If every good thing is from God (James 1:17) then there’s really only one good option, God’s will.

So-called “Options”
  • A new religion (not Christ’s)
  • A new spouse
  • New possessions (ones chased, not give by God)
  • Generally: anything meant to distract you from the “simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ” (2Co 11:3)
Pr 23:7a [Amplified Classic]
For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.

Php 4:7 [Amplified]
And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].

Php 4:7 [Message]
Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.

Careful Who/What You Listen to!
Do not engage with the KoD regarding “options”. That’s what Eve did and look at where that got us! Jesus said, “Pay attention to what you hear” (Mar 4:24a).

Rom 12:1 [Amplified]
Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship.

Keep It Simple Stupid

“simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ” (2Co 11:3)

A Pilot’s Creed
Exercise good judgment on the ground so you don’t have to exercise superior judgment once in the air.

Pr 17:7 [Amplified]
Fine or arrogant speech does not befit [an empty-headed] fool—much less do lying lips befit a prince.

Pr 17:7 [NLT]
Eloquent words are not fitting for a fool;
even less are lies fitting for a ruler.

Pr 17:7 [Message]
We don’t expect eloquence from fools,
nor do we expect lies from our leaders.

Major Theme in the Book of Proverbs
Some things just aren’t appropriate.

Alexander Hamilton (“Founding Father” of America)
Those who stand for nothing fall for anything.

What’s “Appropriate” Nowadays?
Answer: the same things that were appropriate thousands of years ago. God has given us a moral code, instilled it in us even before we were saved, and amplifies it as He sanctifies us. “Appropriate” isn’t a relative term when you have the Word of God present in this world.

There’s a moral standard that God has placed on planet Earth.
