OUTLINE:

Learning God's Perspective
Because of our lifetime training in the ways of the world, certain spiritual truths in the Bible hit us the wrong way at first.

Take Hold, By Faith
We should receive His truth, whatever it is He reveals to us from His Word, so that we can enter His joy. (Jn 8:31-32, 15:10-11)

Humility
There’s no such thing as humility in the absence of authority-orientation; otherwise, who/what would you be “being humble” to???

Will You Receive It?
Slavery to Christ is a wonderful thing. It's freeing. (Ro 6:22, Jn 8:31-32)

Jn 8:31-32
So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

"Thank you, Lord, for being my Shepherd!"
"I receive your authority, I take hold of it, because the alternative is to suffer and die! Thank you for saving me. I rejoice in being your servant."

Being a Slave of God's Love
If we ALLOW ourselves, if we will RECEIVE/take hold of His love for us... well, we are in the joy of bondage to His love. (Ps 116:1-2,16, Jn 10:10)

Inner Joy
There is no substitute for the joy that comes from pleasing our good and loving Master.

The Lord My Shepherd
Be "in love" with God and Jesus! He's hands-down your Best Friend!

Jas 4:6
But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

Humility
There’s no such thing as humility in the absence of authority-orientation; otherwise, who/what would you be “being humble” to???

Obedience (aka righteousness) means peace.

Jas 1:22
[Amplified] But prove yourselves doers of the word [actively and continually obeying God’s precepts], and not merely listeners [who hear the word but fail to internalize its meaning], deluding yourselves [by unsound reasoning contrary to the truth].

It’s never enough to simply know something is true.

Divine Institutions
God is the one who created the institutions of marriage and family. He also chose to make us in His own image. So, it makes sense that since family is a big deal to God, then it’s a big deal to us, as well.

Teaching Us Love
God uses godly families to teach children about His love, from a practical perspective. The divine institutions of marriage and family are actually the platforms God uses to teach others about His love. Godly families aren’t necessarily the end goal; rather, they are the vehicle - the context for love to shine.

Godliness in families pays dividends for life!

The Value of Family
There’s an intrinsic goodness that blankets a godly family that is unmistakably a blessing from God designed to encourage such families to persist in the faith.

An obedient person is a protected person.

On Marriage and Family
A marriage and family of believers is designed to bring glory to God. That is the very first objective of both divine institutions for believers.

A Godly Family…
  • Is an obedient family
  • Is a family blessed with hope and love
  • Keeps Christ at the center
  • Brings glory to God
Maximum glory to God is the result of His love being present in a family.

Proclamation never constitutes obedience. Action does.
