OUTLINE:

Sanctification is a function of obedience.

“work out your own salvation with fear and trembling”
“Means to continually work to bring something to fulfillment or completion... refers to a believer’s responsibility for active pursuit of obedience in the process of sanctification.” - MacArthur

Present, But Not “Present”
Present, But Not “Present”
It is entirely possible, and sadly very common, to be physically present while somewhere else in our heads; that is, present, but really absent. Children, especially, sense this.

Being “Present”
It’s impossible to be “present” if you’re disobedient. We are commanded to love others. However, love cannot be merely a word - we must be “present” in order to genuinely express it.

What is your attitude towards obedience?

An Obedient Mindset
Our minds must be fixed on obedience, as a way of life, not merely a laundry list of checkboxes (yes, there’s a difference). The prior is the sphere of sanctification, the latter religion.

The Way Grace “Works”
WE are sanctified when we are gracious towards OTHERS.

Heb 3:13
But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

I “see” a loving God trying to deliver us from lies.
