OUTLINE:

On Marriage and Family
We believers are held to a higher standard. And, remember, man does not set the bar. At the head of each family, God has placed a man.

How Satan Influences You
Your perception may not match reality. If/when this happens (typically is due to you believing lies or half-truths), you are likely to make decisions that are sub-optimal. It’s like trying to build an argument on insubstantive beliefs - eventually, your argument fails (the greater the initial presupposition, the greater the fall - ala Mt 7:24-27).

Synthesize the Following...
Mt 7:17-27; Lk 8:17-18; Eph 5:15; Heb 4:12; 2Ti 3:16. Summary: Seek to build your thoughts on truth; therefore, be careful what you listen to because your thoughts direct your walk - let the Bible be your source of truth because it is God-breathed.

Don’t Be a Liar
Lying makes you indistinguishable from Christ’s antagonists. We have enough lies to try to sift through - we don’t need our own to make matters worse. Function in integrity, always, even when it “hurts”.

1Th 4:7
For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness.

2Co 12:15
I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls. If I love you more, am I to be loved less?

Gal 4:16
Have I then become your enemy by telling you the truth?

2Pe 2:9
then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment,

“the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials”
Always remember this! When circumstances seem dire, remember God’s promises to you, personally. “[He] will never leave you nor forsake you” (Heb 13:5).

Men, Protect Your Family!
Do not allow people from outside of your family infiltrate it. Be vigilant, on guard, ready to ward off the wolves in sheep’s clothing. Remember, attacks often come from where you least expect it! (Psa 55:12-14)

Mt 16:23
But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”

Ps 55:13-14
But it is you, a man, my equal, my companion, my familiar friend. We used to take sweet counsel together; within God’s house we walked in the throng.

“This mystery is profound”
The family is a microcosm of God’s larger family. As Christ is over His Bride, the Church, husbands are over their wives in their families.

The Value of Family
Disciplined, well-adjusted children from godly homes make for great subordinates because authority-orientation was instilled in them at an early age, and they are blessed for it (and become blessings for others, especially those in authority) (Eph 6:5).

The Value of Family
Undisciplined, maladjusted children from ungodly homes make for horrible subordinates because authority-orientation was never instilled in them, and they are cursed for it (and become a cursing for others, especially those in authority).

Godliness in families pays dividends for life!

The Value of Family
There’s an intrinsic goodness that blankets a godly family that is unmistakably a blessing from God designed to encourage such families to persist in the faith.
