OUTLINE:

"The Things We Do For Love!"
For the benefit of all the people observing our daily choices, and because all men are weak in certain areas, we consider their weaknesses, even while we act in the liberty given to us by Christ.

Willing To Be "Cut" For Others?!
Timothy didn't care about himself or his own comfort... he was willing to sacrifice his own comfort, and even his own rights, for the good it might bring others. Ac 16:3, 1Co 9:22

What we must realize, in humility and patience, is that there are obstacles that exist because of the ignorance of others.

Timothy’s Good Name
Paul recognized that Timothy’s good name among the Jews was advantageous to his ministry. He had Timothy circumcised to minimize social kickback due to the persistent weaknesses of the Jews and their adherence to their religious practices.

All For Love
Even if something is wrong but it's right in the eyes of the weak (circumcision for religious purposes), we need to keep our focus on the end-goal.

“anything by which your brother stumbles”
The word “anything” covers a LOT. In fact, since God isn’t a God of confusion (1Co 14:33), we may rightly conclude that this is dogma. We must always remain cognizant of what may make others stumble (cp Ro 12:9-18).

Lk 12:48b
From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more.

It’s a sin to violate one’s conscience.

Ps 103:14
For He Himself knows our frame;
He is mindful that we are but dust.

We now have the opportunity to be patient and kind towards others, as Jesus was and IS towards us!

A Good Name
A good name begins with integrity to one’s good conscience. Said conscience, as a function of faith (“God has allotted to each a measure of faith” - Ro 12:3), is very personal, unique. God holds us accountable to the good conscience that He’s chosen to give to us, as individuals.

“God Sees the Heart, But the World Sees the Choices We Make.”

Lk 2:52
And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

“God sees the heart, but the world sees the choices we make.”
It’s important that we understand the dynamics of living among other individuals as a part of God’s plan. We ought never judge others for stumbling; rather, we ought to focus on not being the cause. This is love. (cp Ro 12:9-18)

“be devoted”
from philostorgos (from philos, "lover, friend" and storge, "natural or family love") – properly, a lover of family; devoted love, shown by family-members; is that special affection shared between members of God's family – people born-again (divinely adopted) and serving the same (heavenly) Father! - HELPS Word Studies

Ro 14:20a
Do not tear down the work of God for the sake of food.

Eph 4:26-27 [Amplified]
Be angry [at sin—at immorality, at injustice, at ungodly behavior], yet do not sin; do not let your anger [cause you shame, nor allow it to] last until the sun goes down. 27 And do not give the devil an opportunity [to lead you into sin by holding a grudge, or nurturing anger, or harboring resentment, or cultivating bitterness].
