TODAY’S VERSE:

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

What is eternal security? Let us define each word in the phrase to find out. Eternal means existing at all times; always. Security means protected; safe. So, then, eternal security means always safe or saved. As today’s verse tells us, believers in Jesus Christ are saved from sin and death and given eternal life. God wants His children to have confidence in their salvation, so He shares some amazing details, to ensure they do.

First, the Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) indwells (lives inside) the believer’s body, as it is now a temple for Him.

John 14:20 “In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.”

Romans 8:11 “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God?”

Second, believers are baptized by the Holy Spirit, bringing them into union with Jesus Christ and all other believers.

Galatians 3:27 “For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.”

1 Corinthians 12:13 “For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.”

Third, the sealing ministry of God the Holy Spirit “seals”, permanently places, believers into Jesus’ body!

Ephesians 1:13 “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,”

Finally, God adopts all believers into His family.

Ephesians 1:4-5 “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will”

God lives inside His children? Believers are in union with Him and a part of His family? Whaaaat? We know- it is a lot to take in and does not seem to make sense. There will always be things that we do not understand in this life, though. Those are the times when we must have faith in the Lord and trust in Him for all things.

Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

For now, you should understand that God’s salvation plan is perfect and that once He saves His children, they are always saved. Thank you, God, for making a way to save your family and keep them saved forever!
