John 8:44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

In last month’s edition, we began our discussion on Creationism vs. Evolution. We answered the question, “Why would Satan want people to believe in evolution?” with this answer- if he is able to take the credit away from God for creation, then the Bible becomes nothing more than a story. If that is true, then we cannot accept anything the Bible says as fact, including trusting in God for salvation.

In today’s verses, we see two things- God is honest and Satan is a liar. If God always tells the truth and the Bible is His Word, what may we say about the Bible?

John 17:17b; ...Your word is truth.


Ok, so we know that the Bible is God’s Word and is Truth. Some people claim that the Bible was just written by men. God has given us evidence that the Bible is not just a story written by men, but the actual Word OF God FROM God. How does He do this? One way is through prophecy and probability.

Prophecy= prediction of a future event.

Probability= the likelihood/chance an event will happen.

In the Bible there are many Old Testament prophecies fulfilled in the New Testament, proving it is IMPOSSIBLE for anyone but God to be the true author of the Bible. Here are 2 examples for you:

First, we have a prophesy about where our Lord, Jesus, was to be born in the book of Micah, written in ~700 BC.

Micah 5:2 But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.

It is recorded in the book of Luke that approximately 700 years later Jesus’ parents, Joseph and Mary, went to Bethlehem, where He was to be born!

Luke 2:4-5 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.

At about the same time, another prophecy was written in the book of Isaiah about how Jesus would die- by crucifixion, being nailed to a cross.

Isaiah 53:5 But He was pierced through (crucified) for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by
His scourging we are healed.

We see this prophecy fulfilled in the book of Matthew.

Matthew 27:26 Then he released Barabbas but after having Jesus scourged, he handed Him over to be crucified.

There are many, many more prophecies in the Bible, which were all fulfilled… what is the chance (probability) of that happening? Well, let’s just say, that the number would be over a million, billion, trillion, if that’s even a real number . You may be saying to yourself, “That’s impossible!” Yes, for humans, but NOTHING is impossible for God. He is omnipotent (all powerful).

What does this have to do with Creationism vs. Evolution? EVERYTHING!! God has proven to us, time and time again, that Bible is His Word and is Truth. Since the Bible is Truth and the Bible says God created all living things, then Creationism is the truth!
